About Us

We are a second-generation, family-owned local grocer whose history dates back to 1967. In that year our founders, Marv and Bernice Marohn, opened “Marv’s Red Owl” in Annandale, Minnesota. The 5000 square foot store was run by a tight-knit group of family and friends, who loved serving the community they lived in. Through hard-work and determination the family was able to open three more stores and serve the neighboring communities of Buffalo, Cokato and St. Michael. Although the stores have grown from 5000 square feet to 75,000 square feet, we have not lost our small-town charm. Our mission has always been to provide quality, selection and value while still maintaining the community roots that helped us grow. When you visit our stores, you will see friendly reminders of the humble beginnings.

In March 2018, we were saddened by the passing of Marv, but his vision and mission can still be seen through the work ethic and community focus of his children and family, who continue his legacy today.
